This is a course for absolute beginners. It will be taught twice a week for two hours. Participants will work on developing all language skills: oral comprehension, oral expression, writing and reading in addition to grammar and vocabulary. 

Time: September 11th – October 4th 2017: Mondays and Wednesdays 16:00 - 18:00.

Deadline for registration: September  6th.

Instructor: Sigríður Kristinsdóttir.

Price: 25.000 ISK for University staff, 35.000 for others. Learning materials included.
Minimum number of participants: 10

Target group:  All International staff at the University of Iceland who have completed secondary studies (equivalent to a stúdentspróf), including PhD students and Postdocs. The course is also open to participants outside the University who have completed secondary studies.

Secret bunkers, weird art, gold, rabbits and tree houses are among the treasures found in Öskjuhlíð. The area is full of surprises and hidden treasure in the trees and stone quarries. The tour is a circle around Öskjuhlíð in the company of experts from the University of Iceland who will enlighten participants about Icelandic history, community and a little on geology. Don't forget to bring provisions. The tour takes approx. 2 hrs.

The tour is a collaboration between the Icelandic Touring Association and the University of Iceland and combines the experience and knowledge of the tour guides with the knowledge of academics at the University of Iceland.  The aim is to create interest in science and outdoor activities with this welcome alternative.
